Job Description
The Design Applications Technician position is a key role in Perkins+Will's Digital Practice,focusing on our design process and practice through the comprehensive integration of digital tools & workflows.The Design Applications Technician will be expected to balance efforts between assisting project teams and providing technology support and training. The position requires expertise in Perkins+Will's design applications, a solid foundation in all phases of architectural practice, and the ability to manage multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, self-motivated, and collaborative. Capable of engaging effectively with project teams, office leadership, and Perkins+Will's firm-wide Digital Practice group.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Design Teams to develop project-specific implementation strategies. Act as ongoing project consultant to ensure success.
* Ensure Quality Assurance with project teams to maintain modeling quality & fidelity, adherence to firm-wide modeling and information workflows, and ensure continuity of information across applications.
* Represent and coordinate with the firm-wide Digital Practice group to promote local adoption of new technologies, including Virtual & Augmented Reality, Computational Design, Digital Fabrication, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence & Internet of Things, workflows and practices.
* Coordination of applications support with our IT infrastructure group and firm-wide helpdesk.
* Provide Digital Design support to end users.
* Communicate exemplar processes, procedures, practices, and workflows.
* Conduct continuing education workshops and assist with curriculum development.
* Participate in office & firm-wide planning,relative to design technology innovation & implementation.
* Proactively maintain and communicate current knowledge relative to technology through journals, vendor resources, and design community.
Requirements
Requirements:
* Experience in all phases of the architectural design process, as well as commitment and passion for learning new design application technologiesand strategies.
* Strong communication skill's, written, oral and graphicrepresentation.
* High-level of proficiency leveraging Revit in the architectural production process, including the ability to administer, configureand maintainthe application.
* A general familiarity with design visualization and environmental analysis applications.
* Some experience in application customization through programming and scripting.
* Demonstrated experience supporting Revit, Rhinoand other applications in Perkins+Will's design technology suite.
* General aptitude & comfort level with training & technical support,both one-on-one and in-groupsettings.
* BSArch, BArch or MArch, and 3-5 years'experience in an architecturalor similar practice environment.
* IDP, LEED Accreditation and professional licensure a plus.
