Frontend Engineer Job Description

Frontend engineers are responsible for the user-facing side of a website. They deal with the interactive features and displays that appear for users when viewing through a web browser. Frontend engineers should have a working knowledge of scripts used to create the necessary frontend elements. These include HTML, CSS, Javascript and other scripting languages. The main focus for a frontend engineer is to manage the user experience through creating and modifying a website's HTML.

Because of the increasing use of mobile browsers in many countries, frontend engineers are now expected to be familiar with creating websites that provide a good user experience for mobile and computer users. 2017 saw an increase in demand for frontend engineers, with an upward demand trend expected to continue.

Living and Working in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is not just home to Hollywood movie stars. In 2014, Los Angeles was the third largest ecosystem for technology startups and the #1 fastest growing. As of 2016, there were nearly 288,000 tech workers recorded in Los Angeles and more than 14,700 tech companies. These numbers are on an upward trend and are expected to continue growing in the coming years as more investment is made into tech industries around California.

Around 50% of the population in Los Angeles is under the age of 35, leading the city to have a strong creative vibe and a lot of diversity for entertainment and social options. Some of the popular LA neighborhoods for young professionals and families are Beverlywood, Cheviot Hills and Playa Vista.
